[Product Description]
This is a Big Mac denim painter's pants from J.C. Penney's workwear brand, manufactured during World War II in the 1940s. Its simplified details and rugged stitching vividly reflect the wartime background of material rationing.
The top button features the "BIG MAC" engraved donut button, unique to that era. The rivets are simple, unengraved types, and the sewing thread is a mix of orange and ecru, a specification unique to the rationing period. Wartime details similar to the S501XX can be seen throughout, such as the omission of rivets on the coin pocket and the simplified placement of rivets on the back pockets.
The fabric is a denim characteristic of the wartime period, slightly light ounce but with a strong vertical fading. The whiskers formed from years of wear, the fades on the thighs, and the scuffs and repair marks on the hems exude the overwhelming atmosphere of real workwear.
This is a masterpiece of J.C. Penney's work denim, comparable to Levi's S501XX from the same era. It is a true WWII piece highly valued in the vintage market. This is a collector's item that allows you to enjoy both the ruggedness and the beautiful fading unique to the wartime period.
