[Product Description]
Silver bangle made by Navajo artist Leiadakai.
Born in Gallup, New Mexico, Lei Adakai learned engraving from his father, a renowned master craftsman. He is one of the veteran Navajo artists. He specializes in thick, three-dimensional stamp work and designs.
He is a craftsman himself, making all of his tools by hand and living the traditional Navajo lifestyle. His work is stamped all the way to the back, and he is a highly popular artist with a unique worldview that exudes a soft sensibility within a rugged look.
This piece is inlaid with 27 pieces of charoite. Charoite was discovered in the Charo River, which flows through the Sakha Republic of Russia, and was recognized as a new mineral in 1978. It is one of the three major healing stones in the world, and is only mined in Siberia, Russia. It is a rare stone that is currently being mined in large quantities due to continued over-mining.
In addition to the charoite, this piece features powerful stamp work, giving it an overwhelming presence.
